The Los Angeles Dodgers shutout the Pittsburgh Pirates 5-0 last night at PNC Park. The Dodgers hit three home runs in the game, including two off Pirates starter Joe Musgrove. Dodgers starter, Ross Stripling, allowd just four hits in five innings. He did not walk a batter and struck out seven to earn his fourth victory. The Bucs managed seven singles. It was the Pirates 13th loss in their past 17, and they have fallen to .500 overall. The Dodgers have heated up, winning 14 of their past 18.
Jordy Mercer was a late scratch at shortstop due to illness. He was replaced by Sean Rodriguez, who went 0-for-3 and made an error. Rodriguez is batting .162 this season, and the normal steady glove has made three errors recently.
The Pirates host the Dodgers again tonight at 7:05pm. Trevor Williams will start for the Bucs. Pre-game on WISR 680am will be 6:40pm. Left-hander Caleb Ferguson will make his major league debut for the Dodgers tonight. The Dodgers currently have four of their five starting pitchers on the disabled list.
