The Pittsburgh Pirates scored four runs in the ninth inning to defeat the San Francisco Giants 6-4 last night in the opening game of a four-game series. Bryan Reynolds and Jacob Stallings led the Bucs with two hits each.
Starting pitcher Trevor Williams allowed four earned runs in 5-2/3rds innings. He walked three and struck out six.
The victory held off an official “losing season” for the Bucs, who currently have 81 losses this year.
The Pirates and Giants play again tonight at 9:45pm. Pre-game on WISR begins at 9:20pm. Mitch Keller will start for the Pirates. Keller was struck by a line drive in the second inning of a game last week.
