The Pittsburgh Pirates return from the MLB All-Star break tonight to open a seven game home-stand at PNC Park. The Bucs host the St. Louis Cardinals for the first of three games this evening. First pitch is 7:05pm. Pre-game on WISR 680am will be 6:40pm. Gerrit Cole will start for the Pirates. He is 7-7 overall this season with a 4.43 ERA. Mike Leake (6-7, 3.12) will start for the Cards.The Bucs and Cards play at 7:05pm Saturday (6:40pm pre-game), and 1:35pm Sunday.
The Chicago Cubs acquired pitcher Jose Quintana from the Chicago White Sox Thursday. The Cubs sent four minor league players, including two of their top prospects to the White Sox. The Pirates had been interested in Quintana during the pre-season. He has stuggled this year, but was an American League All-Star last season.
