The Pittsburgh Pirates scored seven runs in the 10th inning last night to defeat the Atlanta Braves 12-5. The Pirates hit three consecutive home runs in the inning, by David Freese, Jose Osuna and Jordy Mercer. The Pirates had 14 hits in the game, a night after putting out 15 hits. Osuna and Adam Frazier drove in three runs, and Jordy Mercer had a three hit night.
The Bucs and Braves complete their four-game series today at 12:10pm. The Pirates will return home for a six-game homestand after the game.
Pirate outfielder Andrew McCutchen was benched last night after an 0-for-15 stretch at the plate, that saw his batting average fall to .200. He broke the slump with a pinch-hit single and would later scored in the 10th inning last night. He also struck out swinging to end the inning after the Pirates batted around.
