The Pittsburgh Pirates lost to the Cincinnati Reds 4-3 in extra innings last night to open a four-game series. The Pirates managed just three hits in the game, all three hits were home runs. Two home runs by Josh Harrison and one by Andrew McCutchen. Pirate starting pitcher Gerrit Cole allowed two earned runs over six innings. He walked one and struck out seven. Cole did not figure into the decision. Reliever Daniel Hudson allowed an unearned run, caused by his error, in the 10th inning and took the loss.
The two teams meet again tonight in Cincinnati. Game time is 7:10pm. Pre-game on WISR 680am will be 6:45pm.
Tyler Glasnow is on the mound for the Pirates tonight. The Pirates are now 11-14 overall.
The Pirates called up Triple-A catcher Elias Diaz to replace Francisco Cervelli last night. Cervelli is dealing with a foot issue, but is trying to avoid the disabled list.
