The Pittsburgh Pirates lost their fourth game in a row following the All-Star break, with a 7-0 loss in St. Louis last night. Pirates starting pitcher Joe Musgrove allowed four earned runs on five hits over 4-2/3rds innings. Rookie outfielder Bryan Reynolds had three of the Bucs eight hits, including a double. Left fielder Corey Dickerson made an error and failed to make a catch on another play.
Cardinals starter Miles Mikolas threw a complete game shut-out for his sixth win of the year.
Musgrove had gone 2-0 with a 1.64 ERA over his past four starts, but is now 1-4 with a 7.09 ERA against St. Louis in his career.
They face the Cardinals again tonight at 8:15pm. WISR pre-game is 7:50pm. Dario Agrazal will start for the Pirates. Jack Flaherty for the Cards.
The Pirates have fallen to 44-49 overall and remain 5-1/2 games back in the NL Central. They are now tied with Cincinnati for last place. The Cardinals have moved to within two games of the Chicago Cubs. The Reds defeated the Cubs 6-5 last night.
