The Pittsburgh Pirates were blown out Saturday night by the visiting Washington Nations, the final 9-3.
Pirates’ starting pitcher AJ Burnett struggled on the mound, as he allowed five earned runs and 14 hits. However, Burnett did spread out six strikeouts over five and two-third innings of work.
Offensively for the Buccos, the team collected all three of their runs in the home half of the 6th inning. During that time, the team collect three singles, in addition to a hit batter and an error by the Nationals.
The Pirates will look to win their four game series against the Nationals this afternoon at PNC Park. First pitch will be at 1:35pm.
