The Pittsburgh Pirates lost to the Milwaukee Brewers 4-3 last night. Reliever Daniel Hudson gave up a three-run home run in the seventh inning which decided the game. The Bucs had built a 3-1 lead behind the pitching of Trevor Williams, who pitched into the seventh, but left the game after allowing a single and double prior to the game-winning round-tripper. Josh Bell had two hits for the Pirates, including his 13th home run of the season. Adam Frazier had three hits, including two doubles and scored twice. The Bucs and Brewers complete their four-game series this afternoon at 2:10pm. Hear the game on WISR 680am. Ivan Nova will start for the Pirates, who move on to St. Louis following the game.
Pirates catcher Francisco Cervelli has been forced out of the lineup because of “flu-like symptoms”. He will be undergoing further testing.
The Atlanta Braves have announced that slugger Freddie Freeman will transition from first base to third base has he prepares to return from a broken left wrist in July. The move has become necessary after the Braves acquired Slippery Rock University graduate Matt Adams to replace Freeman in the lineup. Since the May 20th trade from St. Louis, Adams is tied for third in the major league’s with 10 home runs, and is second with 27 RBI’s. He has batted .296 since the trade. Freeman was leading the National League with 14 home runs when he was injured by a thrown pitch.
