The Pittsburgh Pirates and Philadelphia Phillies tied 5-5 in their final game of Grapefruit League play Tuesday. The Bucs scored four runs in the first inning, which included a three-run home run from first baseman Josh Bell of Phillies starter Jake Arrieta. It was his fourth of the spring. Third baseman Colin Moran added two hits, including a double. Jameson Taillon threw three scoreless innings. He allowed two hits and struck out four. He did not walk a batter. Taillon will be the Pirates starter for their home opener Monday.
The Pirates hit 47 home runs this spring, which led the Grapefruit League and matched their team record set in 2006. They open the regular season tomorrow in Detroit. Game time is 1:05pm.
