The Cincinnati Reds defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 5-4 Thursday afternoon, and took two of three games in their series this week. Starting pitcher Ivan Nova gave up a third inning grand slam home run and took the loss. His record fell to 2-5. David Freese and Austin Meadows hit home runs for the Bucs. For Meadows, it was his third home run since being called up from the minor league’s last week.
The Pirates open a six-game homestand tonight against the St. Louis Cardinals. Joe Musgrove will make his debut on the mound at PNC Park. First pitch is 7:05pm. Pre-game on WISR 680am will be 6:40pm.
