The Pittsburgh Pirates fell to the San Francisco Giants 5-0 Sunday at PNC Park. Ivan Nova took the loss, allowing all five of the Giants runs in the sixth inning. Starling Marte and Jose Osuna had two hits each for the Pirates.
The Bucs took two of three games in the series. They are off today and host the Chicago White Sox for two games Tuesday and Wednesday.
Milwaukee Brewers rookie pitcher Freddy Peralta struck out 13 batters in 5-2/3rds inning Sunday in his major league debut. He had allowed just one hit before being lifted because of pitch count. The Brewers lead the Pirates and Cardinals in the Central Division by a 1/2-game.
