Daniel Hudson allowed the winning run in the ninth inning, and took the loss. Cole walked four and struck out eight. The Pirates managed just six singles in the game.
The Bucs and Cubs wrap-up their four game series tonight at 7:05pm. Pre-game on WISR 680am begins at 6:40pm. The Pirates visit the St. Louis Cardinals to begin a nine-game road trip tomorrow.
The Philadelphia Phillies have traded reliever Juan Nicasio to the St. Louis Cardinals for a minor league prospect. The Pirates had placed Nicasio on irrevocable waivers after they were blocked from trading him.
The Cardinals are four games behind the Cubs after defeating San Diego last night. Milwaukee is 4-1/2 back. The Pirates fell 9-1/2 behind the Cubs. Both the Cardinals and Brewers are three games back in the Wild Card race currently led by Arizona and Colorado.
