The Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 5-2 in front of nearly 17,000 fans for the team’s final home game of the season. The Brewers outhit the Bucs 14-5. Nick Gonazales had two of the Pirates hits. Bryan De La Cruz hit his 21st home run of the year. Mitch Keller took the loss, allowing three earned runs on six hits over five innings. He struck out six, but finished the season 11-12 with a 4.25 ERA.
Keller went 10-5 in 19 starts and a 3.46 ERA to begin the season. He went 1-7 with a 5.70 ERA in his final 12 starts.
The Bucs completed their home schedule with a 39-42 record, the same record as 2023.
The Pirates complete their season with three games in New York against the Yankees beginning tonight. First pitch is 7:05pm. Jared Jones will start for the Bucs.
WISR will carry their final Pirates broadcast of the season tomorrow at 1:05pm. Pre-game begins at 12:40pm. Paul Skenes is expected to make his final start of the year.
The Pirates and Yankees complete their regular seasons Sunday at 3:05pm.
