The Arizona Diamondbacks defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 4-2 last night in the opening game of their three-game series in Phoenix. Pirate starting pitcher Chase De Jong allowed all four runs on seven hits. Three of the seven hits were home runs.
Bryan Reynolds and Ke’Bryan Hayes led the Pirates with two hits each and drove in both runs in the seventh inning. Rookie outfielder Jared Oliva added two hits and scored one of the Pirate runs.
The Bucs and Diamondbacks play again tonight at 9:40pm. Pre-game on WISR is 9:15pm.
The Pirates have designated reliever Kyle Crick for assignment. Crick came to the Pirates along with outfielder Bryan Reynolds in the Andrew McCutchen trade in 2018. He pitched 24-1/3rd innings this season with a 4.44 ERA.
