The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Chicago Cubs 5-1 Tuesday at PNC Park. The game was delayed more than two hours because of storms. The rain forced Pirates starting pitcher Joe Musgrove from the game. He did not allow a run over his three innings, allowing one hit and striking out four.
Adam Frazier had four hits, and is now 9-for-10 in the series. One of his hits was a three-run home run in the fourth inning.
The Bucs and Cubs play again tonight at 7:05pm. WISR pre-game is 6:40pm. Chris Archer will start for the Pirates tonight, despite leaving his previous start with hip discomfort. Yu Darvish will start for Chicago.
The Bucs moved to within four games of first place in the National League Central Division, after their victory against the Cubs, and Cincinnati’s 5-4 walk-off win in 11-innings over Milwaukee. The Pirates are now a half-game behind St. Louis for third place in the Central.
Pirates top draft pick Quinn Priester made his pro debut yesterday. He allowed one earned run on three hits and a walk in 2-1/3rd innings. Priester struck out two.
