The Pittsburgh Pirates split a four-game series with the Cincinnati Reds following a 3-0 victory Sunday. Charlie Morton earned his seventh win of the season, pitching seven shut-out innings. The Pirates managed only three hits in the game, but still manufactured three runs. Neil Walker hit is 10th home run of the season. Starling Marte drove in the other two runs. The game featured a bench-clearing incident in the eighth inning.
The Bucs host the Chicago Cubs to begin a three-game series tonight at PNC Park. Francisco Liriano wil start for the Pirates. First pitch is 7:05pm. Pre-game on WISR 680am is 6:40pm.
Pirate starting pitcher A.J. Burnett will have an MRI today to determine the severity of his right elbow inflammation. Burnett has been placed on the 15-day disabled list. He is being replaced in the rotation by J.A. Happ who was acquired at the trade deadline from Seattle.
