The Pirates Charities Winter Care-a-van is making a stop in Butler Friday.
Players including Chris Stewart, Keon Broxton, Elias Diaz, and Nick Kingham will be at McQuistion Elementary School from 10 a.m. to just before noon.
The players, along with coaches Nick Leyva and Dave Jauss, will take part in a school assembly and then help out with a backpack initiative in partnership with the Butler Rotary Club.
In all, the 2015 Pirates CARE-a-van are taking part in more than 20 private community events with area non-profits and schools in 13 cities over three days.
The event Friday in Butler is not open to the public but the community tour will culminate with the 2015 PirateFest Saturday at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh. PirateFest is open to the general public.
