The Pittsburgh Pirates Care-a-Van will come to Butler County today. The event is being held at Connoquenessing elementary school at 10am. Our Tyler Friel will be on hand to welcome Pirates’ David Freese, yler Glasnow and Steven Brault. The event benefits the Caring Angels Program.
The Pirates are holding their annual PirateFest event this weekend at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center Saturday and Sunday.
The Pittsburgh Pirates selected left-handed pitcher Tyler Webb from the New York Yankees in the Rule Five Draft Thursday. The 26-year old Webb had a 3.59 ERA in 36 appearances, mostly as a reliever for the Yankees Triple-A farm club in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton last season. He has never pitched in the major league’s, but will have to remain with the Pirates for all of the 2017 season, or be returned to the Yankees.
The Yankees have re-signed closer Aroldis Chapman, who agreed to a five-year $86 million deal, which included an $11 million bonus. Chapman was traded by the Yankees to the Chicago Cubs for prospects last season.
