The Pittsburgh Pirates fell to the Boston Red Sox 4-3 Thursday in a make-up game from their season-opening series. The Pirates bullpen allowed three runs in the eighth inning after starting pitcher Chad Kuhl allowed just one earned run while pitching into the seventh inning. He did not walk a batter and struck out six. Andrew McCutchen had a two-run home run and Gregory Polanco had two hits for the Bucs. The loss was their fourth in a row.
