Pirates first baseman Josh Bell is heading to the Major League Baseball All-Star game in Cleveland July 9th, but he will not start. Bell lost the fan vote by one percentage point to Atlanta’s Freddie Freeman. The National League lineup will be the youngest in history, with an average of just under 26 years of age. All-Star pitchers and reserves will be announced Sunday at 5:30pm.
Pirate minor league pitchers Mitch Keller, Montana DuRapau and Dovydas Neverauskas were named to the 32nd annual Triple-A All-Star Game being played July 10th in Texas. Keller leads the International League with a 2.89 ERA, and has gone 6-1 in 12 starts with Indianapolis. All three have made appearances with the Pirates this season.
