The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Philadelphia Phillies 3-2 in pre-season baseball yesterday. One of the Pirates top pitching prospects – Thomas Harrington, pitched into the fourth inning. He allowed one run on one hit, striking out three. Mars native David Bednar pitched a perfect inning, striking out two in relief.
After Tuesday’s game, the Pirates sent seven players, including catcher Jason Delay, to Triple-A Indianapolis.
The Pirates play Tampa Bay today in Port Charlotte at 1:05pm, followed by an off-day Thursday.
