The Texas Rangers defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 1-0 Wednesday to take two of three games in their series. Once again, the Pirates outhit a team, only to lose the game. The Bucs left 10 men on base, and went 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position. They left the bases loaded in two innings. David Bednar lost for the sixth time this season, when he allowed the walk-off run in the bottom of the ninth inning.
Domingo German made his first start of the season for the Pirates. He allowed three hits over six scoreless innings.
Reliever Kyle Nicholas pitched a scoreless seventh inning, striking out two batters. Aroldis Chapman struck out the side in the eighth. Bednar came within an out of a scoreless final inning, but allowed three hits and the lone run.
The Pirates are back home and open a four-game series with Cincinnati tonight. First pitch is 6:40pm. Pre-game on WISR begins at 6:15pm. Paul Skenes will start for the Bucs.
