The Pittsburgh Pirates lost to the Baltimore Orioles 6-5 in 10-innings last night. Tony Watson blew his fourth save of the season, contributing to the loss. The Pirates held a 5-3 lead into the bottom of the ninth and the Orioles tied the game against Watson with a two-run home run. Wade LeBlanc allowed the winning run in the 10th inning. Starting pitcher Ivan Nova left the game in the seventh inning with knee discomfort after allowing back-to-back home runs.
The Bucs and Orioles complete their two-game series tonight at 7:05pm. Pre-game on WISR 680am will be 6:40pm.
The Pirates begin a 10-game homestand Thursday and will see three former starting pitchers in the series: Edinson Volquez, Vance Worley and Jeff Locke. Volquez tossed a no-hitter in his last outing.
The Butler BlueSox had their four-game winning streak snapped by Champion City with a 5-3 loss last night. The Kings have won all three games against the Sox this season. They meet again tonight at 6:35pm.
