The Pittsburgh Pirates were hammered by the Miami Marlins 7-1 last night at PNC Park in the opening game of a four-game series. It was the Pirates third loss in a row. Pirate starting pitcher Gerrit Cole allowed all seven earned runs on 11 hits before being pulled in the fifth inning. His record fell to 3-6, while his ERA climbed to nearly five. The Bucs managed just three hits off Miami starter Edinson Volquez over seven innings.
The Bucs and Marlins play again tonight at 7:05pm. Pre-game on WISR is 6:40pm. Tyler Glasnow will start for the Pirates. Vance Worley will start for Miami.
