The Pittsburgh Pirates fell to the Arizona Diamondbacks 6-5 in 14-innings yesterday. The Pirates tied the game in the ninth inning to send it into extra innings, then Jordy Mercer hit a game-tying home run in the 11th inning. Mercer had two hits along with Andrew McCutchen. Jon Jaso had three hits, including a double.
The game had a 90-minute rain delay after going into the extra frames. The Bucs won only two of the six games on the current homestand, and are off today. They visit the New York Mets this weekend.
The Butler BlueSox lost to the Champion City Kings 13-6 last night. The Kings scored six runs in the eighth inning. Butler will visit West Virginia tonight and tomorrow, before returning home for a Fireworks night Saturday.
