Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Chris Archer gave up 5 home runs last night as the Bucs lose 7-5 to Atlanta.
The Pirates were leading, 2-0, when the Atlanta Braves third baseman Josh Donaldson hit a homer off Archer. The Braves hit four more home runs, all solo shots, in five at-bats. Donaldson was suspended for his role in the skirmish Monday night that ensued after his jersey was hit by a pitch by Pirates starter Joe Musgrove. He was able to play due to an appeal of the suspension.
According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the last time the Pirates allowed four home runs in one inning was July 8, 1956, against the New York Giants at the Polo Grounds.
The Pirates fall to 6 games under .500, now 30-36. Mitch Keller will make the start tonight for the Pirates.
The Pirates recalled right-hander Dovydas Neverauskas from Triple-A Indianapolis. Neverauskas has an 18.90 ERA in five appearances with the Pirates this season.
To make room on the 25-man roster, they optioned Alex McRae to Indianapolis.
The Pirates also said reliever Chris Stratton, who has been on the injured list with discomfort on his right side, will begin a rehabilitation assignment at Indianapolis.

The Pirates signed their second-round pick, Indiana outfielder Matt Gorski; Houston infielder Jared Triolo, their Comp B pick; and third-rounder Matt Frazier, an outfielder from Arizona.
