The Pittsburgh Pirates will hold their annual “PirateFest” on Saturday, December 10 (12 noon – 7 p.m.) and Sunday, December 11 (12 noon – 4 p.m.) at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center. The popular Pirates-themed indoor baseball carnival includes activities such as live events, autograph sessions with current and former Pirates players, prizes, games, youth baseball clinics and visits with the Pirate Parrot.
Former Pittsburgh Pirates closer Mark Melancon has signed with the San Francisco Giants. He will receive the highest salary ever for a closer after agreeing to a $62 million contract for the next four years. It includes a $20 million signing bonus.
The Los Angeles Dodgers signed left-handed starting pitcher Rich Hill to a three-year $48 million contract. Hill was 12-5 last season with the Dodgers and Oakland Athletics.
