The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Colorado Rockies 13-7 last night, and have clinched a National League playoff spot. Neil Walker drove in six runs and had four hits in the game, including his 15th home run of the season. Starling Marte, Jordy Mercer and Josh Harrison had three hits each. The Pirates had 19 hits in the game. Joe Blanton picked up the win in relief of Charlie Morton. Morton allowed six runs on 10 hits in 4-1/3rd innings.
The Bucs and Rockies wrap up their series today at 3:10pm. Pre-game on WISR 680am is 2:45pm. Jeff Locke will start for the Pirates.
The Bucs move on to face the Cubs in Chicago for a three-game weekend series beginning Friday afternoon. The Pirates have 10 games remaining in the regular season. They remain four games behind St. Louis, but have increased their lead over the Cubs for the top Wild Card position to three games. St. Louis defeated Cincinnati last night 10-2. The Cubs lost to Milwaukee 4-1.
