The Pittsburgh Pirates broke a five-game losing streak with a 6-4 victory over the New York Mets last night. Josh Bell and Gregory Polanco homered in the win. It was the fifth home run of the season for Bell. It was Polanco’s 10th. Starling Marte was moved to the lead-off position of the Pirates lineup and scored three times. Catcher Elias Diaz had two hits and drove in two runs. Starting pitcher Jameson Taillon allowed two earned runs on four hits before being lifted two batters into the seventh inning. Felipe Vazquez earned his 15th save by striking out the side in the ninth inning.
The Bucs and Mets play again tonight at 7:10pm. Pre-game on WISR 680am will be 6:40pm. Chad Kuhl will start for the Pirates. He is 5-5 with a 4.56 ERA this season.
