Pennsylvania’s legislative body over high school sports is presenting a proposal to allow high school students to make money off of their name.
The PIAA says in the wake of new college rules that give student athletes ability to profit from their name, image, and likeness—it’s important for a plan to be implemented at the high school level.
The main takeaways from the policy include that students would not be allowed to mention their team name or mascot, and would not be allowed to wear their uniforms to make the money.
It will likely be another year before the policy takes effect.
