For the first time this season Pirate starter Jameson Taillon was hit hard, as the Philadelphia Phillies defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 7-0 last night. Phillies starter Jake Arrieta allowed just one hit over seven innings. He walked two and struck out 10. Taillon was lifted in the second inning after allowing five earned runs on four hits. Poor Pirate defense did not help his cause either.
The Bucs and Phillies play again tonight at 7:05pm. Ivan Nova goes to the mound for the Pirates.
The teams play again Saturday at 4:05pm. WISR pre-game will be 3:40pm. Sunday the teams play at 1:35pm.
The Cincinnati Reds have fired manager Bryan Price. The Reds have won just three of 18 games to start the season. It was the Reds worst start since the Great Depression.
