The Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the Minnesota Wild 4-1 last night at PPG Paints Arena. Kris Letang and Rikard Rackell each had a goal and an assist. Tristan Jarry stopped 27 of 28 shots from Minnesota.
The opening goal of the game was Letang’s 11th of the season. Rackell netted his 28th goal. Jason Zucker had his 27th and Jeff Carter scored his 13th goal of the year. Jake Guentzel had two assists.
Former goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 27 of 31 shots from the Penguins.
The Pens visit Detroit Saturday afternoon. Face-off is 1pm. Pre-game on WISR begins at 12:30pm.
They remain one point behind the New York Islanders and Florida Panthers who both won last night.
Florida defeated Ottawa 7-2 and will visit Washington Saturday. Back-up goaltender Alex Lyon stopped a franchise record 56 shots from the Capitals as the Panthers won their fifth game in a row. The Islanders host Philadelphia after defeating the Tampa Bay Lightning 6-1 last night.
The Penguins host Chicago Tuesday, then end their regular season in Columbus next Thursday.
