The Pittsburgh Penguins came from behind to defeat the New York Islanders 4-3 in overtime last night in Brooklyn. Bryan Rust scored the game-winner in the extra period, after the Pens scored three times in the third period. Rust was also one of the goal-scorers in regulation, along with Brian McCann and Evgeni Malkin. McCann had three points in the game.
The victory snapped the Islanders 10-game winning streak. It also moved the Penguins back into a tie for third place in the Metropolitan Division with Carolina. The Pens trail first-place Washington by eight points. The Capitals have the most points in the NHL.
The Pens will host the Chicago Blackhawks at PPG Paints Arena Saturday at 7pm. Pre-game on WISR begins at 6:30pm.
The Pens were without defenseman Kris Letang who has a “lower body injury”. Rookie John Marino took Letang’s spot with Brian Dumoulin.
