The Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the New Jersey Devils 3-2 last night, extending their current win streak to seven. Teddy Blueger scored a short-handed goal and the Pens killed four of five New Jersey power plays in the game. Danton Heinen and Mike Matheson also scored for the Penguins. Tristan Jarry stopped 17 of 19 shots.
The Pens are now four points out of first place in the Metropolitan Division. They host New Jersey Tuesday.
The Detroit Red Wings became the sixth NHL organization to have games postponed because of virus issues. The Red Wings game tonight against Colorado, and their Thursday trip to Minnesota have been called off.
The NHL has also shut down any games that have teams crossing the U.S. and Canadian border. The league is now concerned that the postponed games may keep the league from allowing players to participate in the Winter Olympics in February.
