The Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the New York Rangers 5-2 Wednesday to take game one of their best-of-seven Stanley Cup playoff series. Patrick Hornqvist netted a hat trick for the Pens, and had four points. Sidney Crosby had a goal and three points. Goaltender Jeff Zatkoff stopped 35 shots. Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist left the game after the first period after being struck near his eye by a teammates stick. Both teams were 1-for-5 on the power play.
The Pens played without goaltenders Marc-Andre Fleury and Matt Murray. Tristan Jarry was the back-up to Zatkoff.
The Pens host the Rangers Saturday at 3pm. Pre-game on WISR 680am is 2:30pm.
