The Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the Washington Capitals 3-2 in overtime last night and have taken a 3-1 series lead in their best-of-seven Stanley Cup Playoff Series. Patrick Hornqvist scored the game-winner for the Penguins. Sidney Crosby and Matt Cullen scored the other Penguins goals. Matt Murray had another solid night in goal for the Penguins with 34 saves. It was the first time in nine overtime playoff games the Penguins came up with a victory. The Pens played without their top two defenseman. Kris Letang was suspended by the NHL for last night’s game. Olli Maata is out after taking an illegal hit by Brooks Oprik, who was suspended three games by the NHL.
The Eastern Conference Semi-final series moves to Washington for game five Saturday night. The face-off will be 7:15pm. Pre-game on WISR 680am is 6:30pm.
