The Pittsburgh Penguins snapped a five-game losing streak with a 5-2 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets last night at the Consol Energy Center. Evgeni Malkin and Phil Kessel each scored twice in the game. The win was the first for new head coach Mike Sullivan. It was also the first NHL victory for goaltender Matt Murray, who stopped 22 of 24 shots on goal by Columbus. The Pens played without Sidney Crosby who is dealing with a minor injury. The Penguins were 2-of-4 on the power play. The Pens are off until the weekend, when the visit Minnesota and Winnipeg Saturday and Sunday for 8pm games.
