The Pittsburgh Penguins have inked 21-year old defenseman Olli Maata to a six-year contract extension that will pay him an average of $4 million.
Ahead of their home game against the Winnipeg Jets tomorrow at Consol Energy Center, the Pittsburgh Penguins sent center Oskar Sundqvist back to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Thursday. Sundqvist had been brought up to replace Evgeni Malkin for the past 10 games, but Malkin will return for the game tomorrow. Face-off is 3pm. Hear the game on WISR 680am beginning at 2:30pm.
The Pens received help from the Columbus Blue Jackets, who defeated New Jersey 6-1 last night. As a result, the Penguins remain in the final Eastern Conference Wild Card spot by one point over the Devils. Both the New York Rangers and Islanders won last night. The Pens now trail the third-place Isles by five points, and the second-place Rangers by eight points in the Metropolitan Division.
