The Pittsburgh Penguins host the Edmonton Oilers tonight at PPG Paints Arena. Face-off is 7pm. Pre-game on WISR 680am is 6:30pm. The game will feature a match-up of two of the best players in hockey. Penguins captain Sidney Crosby, who was the Stanley Cup playoffs Most Valuable Player, and winner of the Conn Smythe Trophy. Edmonton is led by Connor McDavid who won the Art Ross Trophy and Hart Trophy last season as the league’s top scorer and MVP.
The Pens have placed goaltender Antii Niemi on waivers and called up Casey DeSmith from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. Niemi allowed seven goals in his start against Tampa Bay Saturday. He has the worst save percentage in the NHL.
The Penguins will feature a new player in tonight’s game. Riley Sheahan was acquired from Detroit for Scott Wilson over the weekend.
