The Washington Capitals forced a game seven in their Stanley Cup Playoff Series with the Pittsburgh Penguins following a 5-2 victory at PPG Paints Arena last night. The Capitals scored twice on power plays and built a 5-0 lead before the Pens scored two goals late in the game. Pens goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury stopped just 21 of 26 shots, while the Penguins managed only 18 in the game. They never had double-digit shots in any period.
Jake Guentzel scored his ninth goal of the playoffs. Evgeni Malkin his seventh. The Pens were 0-for-3 on the power play.
Game seven will be in Washington Wednesday at 7:30pm. Pre-game will be 7pm on WISR 680am.
