The Pittsburgh Penguins lost to the Buffalo Sabres 5-4 in overtime in their first exhibition game of the season. Jack Eichel scored the game-winner just five minutes into the overtime. The Pens will host Columbus Thursday.
The NHL Players’ Association announced Monday it would not opt out of the current collective bargaining agreement, and will continue to work with owners on a new extension. The current CBA remains in effect through September 2022. There was concern over an NHL work stoppage.
