The Pittsburgh Penguins opened their pre-season with a 4-2 loss to the Detroit Red Wings. Garrett Wilson, signed as a free agent from Florida in the off-season scored both Penguins goals. The Pens visit the Chicago Blackhawks tonight. Face-off is 8:30pm.
Canada defeated Europe 3-1 in the opening game of the World Cup of Hockey championship in Toronto. Sidney Crosby had two assists, and now has a tournament-leading nine points. Game two of the best-of-three series is Thursday.
