The NHL Draft concluded on Saturday, with the Pittsburgh Penguins drafting a total of six players between rounds two and six. This year’s draft class for the Penguins include:
Filip Gustavsson (2nd round, 55th overall) – A 6’1″ – 190 pound Swedish goalie who was ranked Europe’s top goalie in this year’s draft. He turned 18 earlier this month.
Kasper Bjorkqvist (2nd round, 61st overall) – A 6″1″ – 198 pound forward who totaled 66 points in 45 games with his junior team in Finland. He turns 19 in July.
Connor Hall (3rd round, 77th overall) – A 6’2″ – 190 pound defenseman who was known as an extremely physical and aggressive player with his junior team in Ontario. He turned 18 in February.
Ryan Jones (4th round, 121st overall) – A 6’1″ – 189 pound defenseman who was also known as physical and aggressive, and totaled over 110 penalty minutes with his USHL team in Lincoln, Nebraska. He turned 20 last month.
Niclas Almari (5th round, 151st overall) – A 6’1″ – 167 pound defenseman who may continue to play junior hockey in Finland for the next three years before coming to the states. He is known as a good skater, and turned 18 last month.
Joe Masonius (6th round, 181st overall) – A 6′ -190 pound defenseman who was known as being quick and mobile during his time at UConn. He is one of ten siblings, and turned 19 in February.
