The Washington Capitals erased a two-goal deficit to defeat the Pittsburgh Penguins 3-2 last night. Former Penguin Matt Niskanen scored the game-winner on a power play midway through the third period. The Penguins goals were scored by Evgeni Malkin and Patrick Hornqvist. Rookie goaltender Matt Murray stopped 34 of 37 shots.
The Pens host the New York Rangers tomorrow night. They play back-to-back games again this weekend. It appears defenseman Justin Schultz, who was acquired from Edmonton this week, will be in uniform for tomorrow’s game.
