The Tampa Bay Lightning defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins 3-2 in overtime last night. The Pens built a 2-0 lead through the first two periods of the game, with goaltender Tristan Jarry stopping the first 26 shots from the Lightning. Tampa Bay mounted a third period comeback, outshooting the Penguins 12-4 in the final period. The Lightning scored the game-winning goal with just over a minute remaining in the overtime period. The Pens failed to manage a shot on goal in the extra period.
It is the eighth game in their first 21 that the Pens have given up a multi-goal lead. They have also allowed 28 third period goals this season, most in the NHL. The Penguins host the Winnipeg Jets Friday night. The Jets have the best record and most points in the NHL. They are off to a 16-3 start.
