The Pittsburgh Penguins open the Stanley Cup Playoffs tonight against the New York Islanders. Face-off is 7:30pm. WISR pre-game is 7pm. The two teams split their season-series 2-2, with each winning a shoot-out game.
Defenseman Brian Dumoulin and forward Zach Aston-Reese were full practice participants for the second straight day.
The Pens have added goaltender Tristan Jarry to the roster and will carry three goaltenders for the playoffs.
Mike Lange, the radio voice of the Pittsburgh Penguins, will miss the start of the Stanley Cup playoffs after suffering an adverse reaction to medication for pneumonia. The Hall of Fame broadcaster was briefly hospitalized last week and is now resting at home. Lange will phone in during the first intermission of Game 1 tonight to speak with Penguins intermission host, Brian Metzer. Josh Getzoff will handler the radio play-by-play duties at the start of the playoffs, with the “ol-29er” Phil Bourque providing analysis. Hear tonight’s game and all of the Penguins Stanley Cup Playoff games on WISR.
