The Pittsburgh Penguins host the San Jose Sharks tonight in game five of their Stanley Cup final. A Penguins victory would allow the team to hoist the Stanley Cup in front of home ice fans for the first time in their history. A major professional team has not won a league championship in front of Pittsburgh fans since Bill Mazeroski’s game-winning World Series home run in 1960.
Face-off is 8:20pm. (WISR will join the pre-game following Pirate baseball).
Center Nick Bonino was the only Penguin who did not practice yesterday in Cranberry Township. Bonino was give a “maintenance day off”. He leads all forwards in the NHL with 46 blocked shots this post-season.
