Pennsylvania ranked second in the country for identity theft last year.
In 2014, officials say Pennsylvanians fell victim to over 170,000 confirmed tax-related identity theft cases…that is worse than every other state besides Florida. Officials say the number is disproportionate because our state ranks sixth nationally in population.
Identity theft compromises credit history, financial security, personal safety and reputation.
State senators have introduced new legislation that would aid victims and hopefully prevent future cases.
