Pennsylvania’s top law enforcement official has reached a settlement with a large home security company and some residents may be eligible for restitution.
Attorney General Josh Shapiro announced the agreement with THS Group LLC, commonly known as Total Home Protection to resolve allegations of deceptive marketing practices.
Many customers complained to the Bureau of Consumer Protection that Total Home Protection advertised and sold home warranty service contracts to customers who were elderly or otherwise vulnerable. The company and its owner then allegedly used deceptive means to wrongfully deny covered claims.
This settlement includes $400,000 in restitution for Pennsylvania customers of Total Home Protection. Anyone who believes they might be entitled to restitution should file a complaint online with the Bureau of Consumer Protection as soon as possible.
