With the Super Bowl this weekend, the Pennsylvania State Police and the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation are ramping up efforts to keep motorists safe.
Many people will be traveling to gatherings planned around the big game and many of those gatherings will have alcohol available.
PennDOT recommends partygoers plan a safe ride home before the event begins, do not allow intoxicated people to drive a vehicle from a party, and always wear a seatbelt to protect against the effects of other drivers who might be impaired.
46 crashes caused by drunk driving were reported across Pennsylvania last year on Super Bowl Sunday through 6 a.m. Monday.
